Stop loss & take profit
Risk:reward
A long trade buys, expecting a rise; a short trade sells first, expecting a fall. Your stop loss is where your idea is proven wrong; your take profit is where you collect. Risk:reward (R:R) compares the two distances: risking 1 to make 2 is written 1:2. With 1:2 trades you can be right only about 1 in 3 times and still break even.
Remember: Bigger reward per risk = you can be wrong more often.
